Have you ever felt grateful for the roof
over your head? Or for the fact you have a bed to sleep in at night? I have a
young man with me who has a major role to play in changing homeless people’s
lives who look for help from the organization of Centrepoint UK, who have
come to the aid of roughly one hundred and twenty-five thousand people
between the ages of 16 and 25 since they were first founded in the year of
1969. Joe, firstly thanks for taking time out of your day to come and talk to
us about this brilliant organization. What more can you tell us about it?
Well Josh, thank you for giving me the
opportunity to tell the audience why I have one of the best jobs in the
world, helping thousands of homeless young people each and every year. I
haven’t been long in the job, but I can say with 100% confidence, I don’t
know another organization that has had such a huge impact on an enormous
number of homeless people’s lives then Centrepoint UK.
Well,
I guess it would be quite an honor seeing a person grow under your influence,
especially with getting to know them from being homeless, at such a young and
unimaginable age. Joe, you say it’s one of the best jobs in the world, so
because of that, I highly doubt Centrepoint give much more than a home to
these young people.
One of the things about the job is that
we don’t just give young people homes, but we also help them on their way to
fully independent living within 2 years, along with supporting these people
with counselling and practical advice so that they can rebuild their
confidence and start to look forward to the future again.
Wow, it’s a great thing that your organization
spend so much time with each individual, and giving them exactly what it is
they need to improve their lives drastically!
It’s not only that Josh, During the
targeted 2 years, we provide these incredible people with the confidence and
skills they need to find a job best suited to them, one that some know they’ve
wanted since as long as they can remember, others who had no idea what they
wanted to do after school or college. It’s not just the more advanced things
in life these people need, so we also teach them the basic skills in life
such as cooking and cleaning, to managing their money, which they’ll need in
order to have a fully independent and successful way of living.
Incredible stuff! My only worry is how
Centerpoint UK are able to fund something as big as this. Can you tell us
about where the funds come from please Joe?
For just 40p a day your room at Centrepoint
will:
Provide a warm, safe
space where a young person can stay with Centrepoint for up to two years, or
until they are ready to move on and lead independent lives
From just 40p a day you
can change a life by donating on our website www.centrepoint.org.uk, where you
can find examples of the young people we help for yourself, and look up what
exactly Centerpoint UK done to help them.
Joe, I can’t thank you enough for giving up your
time to come in and talking to us about this wonderful organization,
Centerpoint UK, And a big thaks to the audience for tuning in to listern to.
I hoe you can find a spare 40p in your pocket each month to donate!

Gender:
One way the media portray their representations of a male and female if through images of them on magazines. Because of the images of people to use, people of the same gender feel guilt for not having a physique like the person they see everywhere they look. The male's in films or comics etc are usually presented as strong and brave, whereas the woman if the one who needs to be saved etc.
Age:
Elderly - Weak, vulnerable, feel sympathy for elder generations,
Teens - Irresponsible, lazy,
Children - Innocent, cute,

Secondary images & prepared images for magazine
Prepared Images
For the images i used for my front cover and double page spread of my magazine, i used a combination of the magic wand, lasso, crop and resize tools. I used these tools on the two images of me.Firstly, i used the magic wand and lasso tools to select myself in the images. I then inverted my selection which made everything in the image but myself selected, and deleted what was selected. That left me with just the cropped image of myself, then i dragged it onto my magazine and then resized it, and finally positioned it where i wanted it to be. I carried out the same procedure for the image on my double page spread as i did for the front cover.

Secondary Images
I wanted my magazine to be as original as it could be, and part of this included not using a lot,or any, secondary images. In my magazine, i only used one, which was the barcode in the bottom left corner of my front cover. I even wanted to make the barcode original, therefore, using the magic wand tool on photoshop, I swapped the colored of the barcode around, making the background of it white, and the lines and numbers black. In order to find the barcode i used, i simply went on google and searched 'barcode', and selected a barcode from the 'images' search.
